Let Your Smile Show Who You Really Are

 smile makeover

Let’s talk about the power of a smile.

A smile communicates your emotions more precisely than words can ever do. The absence of a smile also sends a clear message. But what if you want to smile but the problems with your teeth prevent you? This is a frustrating condition for many Pearland people both young and old.

You may have a warm and engaging personality, but no one can observe that personality without a smile. If you are commonly too embarrassed about your teeth to smile, this post is for you.

Do you ever examine how your close-lipped facial expressions impact other people’s perceptions of you? Do you think it’s possible that your demeanor causes people to get the wrong impression? Perhaps they think you are shy, distant, timid, or unhappy. These adjectives are probably completely off-base – but without a smile, it’s hard to tell. Especially when people meet you for the first time.

Do you think your unattractive smile has affected your career? How about your personal relationships? If you are dissatisfied with the way your teeth look, you have probably considered cosmetic dentistry.

This begs the question: “What has prevented you from seeking a smile makeover?” Is it the cost? Fear that it’s going to be painful? Doubts about whether it will really work? Worry that you will have to take work off for several appointments? Maybe you are just too embarrassed to let anyone look in your mouth.

If you are still reading this post, I suspect you are on the fence regarding this life-changing renewal. You can’t make a wise choice unless you have the critical facts, and I want to provide them to you.

Knowledge is power. I invite you to come in for a free, informational smile makeover consultation. I want to speak with you about all the concerns I mentioned previously and any others you may have. When I perform a smile makeover for someone who has been embarrassed to smile for years, it changes that person’s life. Because of breakthrough procedures, instruments, lab processes, and materials, it’s a great time to be a cosmetic dentist and an even better time to get a smile makeover at David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry in Pearland.

The key to a smile transformation that transcends what is technically adequate to the type of sensational smile that is greater than the sum of its parts is the expertise of the dentist. To reach the level of perfection that you deserve, an accomplished smile makeover dentist must have the capacity to use all these things in combination with rare artistic skill.

Whew! That’s a lot of words. And, as mentioned at the beginning of this post, we know that words cannot convey what a standout smile can. Let me show you pictures of David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry smile makeover patients. Then you will understand. (After all, a picture is worth – how many words?)

I invite you to call me, Dr. David C. Montz, today at 832-895-5120.

Inlays/Onlays: Less Invasive Than Complete Crowns

cosmetic dental Pearland

Restorative dentistry has progressed considerably over the years and there are now several effective ways to fix decayed teeth. In today’s post, we are going to focus on two similar types of restorations: dental inlays and onlays.

Where possible, an inlay or an onlay can be a less-invasive alternative to a complete crown and either one is usually more affordable than a porcelain crown procedure.

Inlays/onlays are “indirect fillings,” meaning that they are produced in a lab and placed whole on the tooth. A traditional “direct filling” is applied to the tooth while the material is malleable and then shaped by the dentist.

An inlay is used to repair the surface of a damaged tooth, usually to fill a small cavity or a natural pit that is at risk for decay.

Typically porcelain or composite resin are used for inlays; these materials are durable and look very natural because the color can be matched precisely to the surrounding teeth. An inlay is accurately fitted to your tooth and looks, feels, and functions like the former tooth.

An onlay covers a larger part of the tooth. Because they cover such a large area of the tooth, they are often referred to as partial crowns. Onlays are often applied to the biting surface of the tooth. Just like inlays, they are accurately fitted to the damaged part of the tooth. Composite resin and porcelain are also the main materials used to create an onlay. As mentioned before, inlays and onlays serve a vital role in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.

At David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, we provide premium dental care including inlays and onlays. If you have one or more teeth that has a cavity, crack, or excessive wear, call 832-895-5120 to make an appointment today.

Time To Upgrade Your Smile?

Cosmetic Dentistry Options Have you thought about upgrading your smile? Cosmetic dentistry offers many remarkable possibilities for Pearland residents.

The quickest and least invasive procedure is light teeth whitening. The results are dramatic and teeth whitening side effects are minimal.

If your teeth are slightly crooked, but require no orthodontic work, porcelain veneers could be the answer. Porcelain teeth veneers are translucent, wafer-thin covers that are permanently attached to the front of teeth, correcting chips and stains. Prepless veneers do not require the removal of tooth structure.

If your teeth are more than slightly crooked, it’s not too late for braces. Pearland dental patients of all ages are undergoing orthodontic treatment and achieving fantastic results. The newest braces are less noticeable, more comfortable and bring teeth into alignment much faster than old-school metal braces.

Has gum recession caused the metal base of an old crown to be visible? Soft tissue grafts and/or crown replacement can correct this problem.

Are you missing one or more teeth? One of the best tooth replacement options is a dental implant. A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a stable foundation for the replacement tooth.

Can you envision yourself with a dental makeover?

Avoid Tooth Loss In Pearland

treatment for bleeding gums Friendswood

Do you know the most common cause of tooth loss among Houston adults?

The answer is gum disease. While this may be startling to Houston, Manvel, and Friendswood residents, there is a bright side:

Gum disease is easy to treat if it is detected in the early stages.

Regular check-ups with your Pearland dentist are essential, but there are warning signs for gum disease that everyone should be looking for.

1. Gums that bleed very easily

2. Gums that appear tender, swollen, or very red, or gums that have visible pus in between them when they are pushed

3. A bite that changes suddenly so that your teeth don’t seem to fit together correctly

4. Gums that are pulling away from the teeth

5. A bad taste in the mouth or chronic bad breath

6. Loose or separating teeth

If you are experiencing these symptoms, talk to your dentist today. Avoiding these problems is ideal, but brushing isn’t enough. Since plaque causes gum disease, removing plaque through regular flossing is the key to healthy gums.

My name is Dr. David C. Montz and my practice, David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry serves the Friendswood, Alvin, and Manvel areas. Six 10-Second Healthy Tooth Helps

Friendswood dental

Improving your oral hygiene doesn’t have to take a lot of time. In fact, you can establish a new habit to benefit your oral health in 10 seconds. I’m Dr. David C. Montz with David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry writing to offer my patients in Manvel, Friendswood, and Alvin 6 uncomplicated ways to add important dental care to each day in 60 seconds or less.

Find a good place for your toothbrush.
Look around. In 10 seconds you can probably find 5 places to set your toothbrush that will allow air drying and can slow the growth of microorganisms that a closed, moist environment would encourage.

Leave the floss on the counter.
If you want to build consistency, you’ll need a plan. Deliberately setting out the floss will give you more commitment to use it. And if you see it you’ll remember that commitment.

Swish.
If you’re in 20 seconds already, might as well grab the fluoride rinse and rinse away food particles after flossing and freshen your breath at the same time. 10 seconds is the minimum but it will do the trick if the alternative was no time spent swishing.

Smile in the mirror.
Check out those chompers. Examine for 10 full seconds. Inspect gums for bleeding or tenderness, missed food particles and staining or other concerns.

Have a water chaser with dark beverages.
Rinse your mouth with a sip of water when drinking cola, tea, or coffee throughout the day. Less than 10 seconds and a habit that will lessen discoloration.

Call David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry.

10 digits, 10 seconds, a short conversation and you can secure yourself a consultation with me and my friendly staff. Call 832-895-5120 so we can examine your teeth for more than your initial 10 seconds and help you to have the smile you can be proud of.

For families throughout Houston, cosmetic dentistry – teeth whitening, crowns, chipped teeth and even braces – all have their place in improving a smile. Why not let us improve yours?

We can answer questions about the cost of cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, or dental implants. Trusted since 1997 to promote healthy smiles and educated hygiene, we will take care of all your needs including: porcelain veneers, sleep apnea, sedation dentistry, teeth whitening, CEREC dental crowns and everything in between.

Gummy Smile?

Gummy Smile? Many Pearland cosmetic dentistry patients with a gummy smile undergo crown lengthening surgery to bring proper balance and symmetry to their smile. Gum tissue and, in some cases, bone is removed to expose more of the visible part of a tooth. It is a safe procedure that does not affect healthy tooth structure.

A ‘gummy smile’ is a term used to describe a smile with teeth that appear too short because an unusual amount of bone and soft tissue hide part of the crown. Our Pearland cosmetic dental patients who have opted for crown lengthening love how their new perfect smile looks and feels. Some of our Manvel crown lengthening patients also choose teeth whitening for an extra-dazzling smile!

Crown lengthening is not used solely for cosmetic reasons. When a tooth is injured and breaks at the gum line or if a filling or crown comes off a tooth that contains decay, crown lengthening makes additional tooth structure accessible for further restorative work. It is also used to treat some types of periodontal disease.

At David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, we perform cosmetic and restorative crown lengthening for patients in the Pearland, Friendswood and Alvin area. The surgery can be performed by a general dentist, periodontist or oral surgeon.

If you are interested in crown lengthening or other cosmetic dental procedures and live in the Houston, area, schedule an exam by calling 832-895-5120. We are conveniently located at 2443 S Galveston Ave

Adequate Results vs. Incredible Results

Pearland Teeth Bleaching A Houston cosmetic surgeon has specialized schooling in addition to the training a general surgeon completes. Likewise, a true cosmetic dentist has completed rigorous courses in addition to dental school. Of course, many Pearland general dentists offer cosmetic dentistry treatment.

Teeth whitening, crowns, porcelain veneers, and dental bonding are some of the common procedures in the Houston, Texas area.

In many cases, Friendswood general dentists achieve satisfactory results. However, there is a difference between adequate results and incredible results. Manvel cosmetic dentists have the skills and experience to create absolutely beautiful smiles.

You have probably seen attractive front teeth crowns performed by a general dentist. They are often perfectly shaped, correctly aligned and pleasingly white. But have you ever seen front teeth crowns done by a true artist? The color, translucency, and texture take the crowns to the ultimate level of breathtaking beauty.

If you are considering cosmetic dentistry, ask your dentist about his or her specialized training.

David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry Treatment For Sensitive Teeth

Manvel cosmetic dental and tooth implants

For those of you in the Houston area who feel pain when you sip your morning coffee or who cringe each time you brush or floss, David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry is here for you. Doctor David C. Montz has been treating this common problem since 1997.

The first line of defense against tooth sensitivity is proper oral hygiene. Incorrect brushing and over-brushing can result in receding gums, which leads to the exposure of microscopic tubules in the dentin. When these tubules are exposed, acidic, hot, cold, and sticky foods can then reach the nerve cells in the teeth causing discomfort (who are we kidding – it’s pain).

Here in our Pearland general dentistry practice, our knowledgeable dental staff can determine if your brushing style is contributing to your tooth sensitivity and get you on your way to proper oral care habits.

David C. Montz usually recommends an over-the-counter desensitizing toothpaste that will alleviate tooth pain after several applications. Most Houston Wal-Mart and Friendswood Sav-On stores carry it. However, some Pearland patients may need in-office procedures such as fluoride gel treatments available at David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry.

Don’t worry if you have sensitive teeth in Pearland and want to have your teeth whitened. Here at David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, Dr. Montz can determine which professional tooth whitening or at-home whitening procedures will work for you.

Call our Pearland cosmetic dental office today to get relief for your sensitive teeth.

Aching Jaw In Pearland?

Aching Jaw In Pearland?

Hi. I’m Dr. David C. Montz, and today in the Pearland dentist blog, I want to look at some of the conditions that may result in jaw pain.

Jaw pain may be caused by sinusitis. Sinusitis is the inflammation of the tissues that line your sinuses, and when these tissues are inflamed, the sinuses exert pressure on surrounding areas. If the inflamed sinus is near the jaw, pain in the jaw joint may result. This commonly happens following a cold or when someone suffers from allergies.

Many of my Houston patients who come to me with jaw pain have some type of dental problem, such as an infection or a problem in the temporomandibular joint (also known as TMJ).

The source of jaw pain can easily be identified at your Houston dental office, and treatment can begin from there. But remember, jaw pain shouldn’t be ignored.

If you are looking for quality dental care around the Friendswood, Alvin, or Manvel areas, please consider David C. Montz DDS, PA & Associates – Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. I have been serving the greater Houston area since 1997. If you have any questions about oral health or any cosmetic dentistry procedures such as:

give us a call today at 832-895-5120.

4 Tips For A Younger Looking Smile

THERE ARE COUNTLESS methods we use to try and turn back the clock on our appearance. Whether it’s hip wardrobes and hairstyles or costly cosmetic surgeries, people go to great lengths to recapture the look and feeling of their youth.

Despite all of these anti-aging fads and gimmicks, studies show your smile can do more to make you look younger than anything else!

Good Oral Hygiene Keeps Your Smile Looking Younger, Longer

The simplest thing you can do to keep Father Time at bay is to practice good oral hygiene habits. Brushing twice a day and flossing regularly promotes healthy teeth and gums and keeps your smile looking and feeling clean. If we ignore these simple habits, we put our smiles at risk of harmful bacteria which can lead to unsightly effects such as:

  • Cavities,
  • Tooth discoloration or tooth loss,
  • And periodontal disease.

Maintaining good oral health throughout your life doesn’t just preserve the appearance of your smile, but it can preserve your overall health too. Bleeding gums caused by periodontal disease can allow bacteria from your mouth to enter your bloodstream and affect other parts of the body. Research suggests gum disease can increase our risk for serious health problems, including…

  • Diabetes
  • Endocarditis and cardiovascular disease
  • Osteoporosis
  • Strokes
  • Alzheimer’s Disease

For a few tips on how to floss properly to fight off that harmful bacteria, check out the video below!

Brighten Your Smile With Professional Tooth Whitening

Even when you take good care of your teeth, over time they naturally yellow. Micro-fractures, thinning enamel, and built-up stains all make your teeth look duller and older. But, that can be changed with tooth whitening!

There are several tooth whitening solutions, each with their own unique benefits. From over the counter whitening strips to in-office whitening treatments, we can help you decide which whitening solution is best for your smile.

Cosmetic Dentistry Can Give You The Look You Want

Whether you need just few touch-ups or would like an amazing dental makeover, cosmetic dentistry can provide exactly the look you want. Cosmetic dentistry has both therapeutic and aesthetic benefits. Treatment can repair your teeth and correct your bite, and at the same time give you the gorgeous smile you’ve always wanted!

Be Confident In Your Smile

One of the best ways to appear more youthful is to smile more! This can start a wonderful cycle too! Smiling more can actually make you happier, and make you want to smile more.

We love our patients and love seeing your bright shining smiles each day. If you have any questions about how we can give you a healthier, more beautiful smile, give us a call and set an appointment to visit our practice or let us know in the comments below!
