Dentistry has progressed to a point where total mouth reconstruction is possible!
Have you had several teeth extracted? Do you have other oral troubles like bone or gum recession?
Implants Can Be Used In Many Ways
Dental implants are strong, functional, and naturally-looking restorations with roots permanently anchored into the jaw bone.
Dental implants have been used for quite a few years to replace one or two missing teeth. They can now be used to provide a structure for bridges and anchored dentures!
Missing Teeth, Bone Recession, Gum Recession, and Broken Crowns
Every smile redesign patient requires a unique combination of cosmetic dental procedures, but let’s talk about a hypothetical case involving several restorations:
‘Margaret’ was a 67-year-old woman with a mouthful of troubles. She had undergone extensive radiation for cancer several years earlier. The radiation therapy damaged soft tissues in her mouth and exacerbated tooth decay.
Eventually, most of her back teeth top and bottom had to be extracted. Four of her existing teeth were chipped and her gums had regressed revealing the metal bases of two old crowns.
Margaret was also missing bone structure due to recession after the extractions. To create a stable site for the implants, she received bone grafts.
To restore a gorgeous smile, she received eight tooth implants. The implants anchored partial dentures for her upper and lower back teeth.
Soft tissue grafts used to cover exposed tooth roots protect teeth from receding gums and can relieve sensitivity. After soft tissue grafts, her front teeth received a combination of porcelain crowns and veneers.
The outcome? A stunning smile and renewed confidence! Plus no more dentures masking the taste of food and moving around in her mouth.
This case is representative of many of our patients who have a combination of problems and several missing teeth. At Montz and Maher Dental Group, we solve problems that many patients thought were impossible.
